Harrietville is an historic gold mining town, on the banks of the Ovens River, that was settled in 1852. It's history is captured in a riverside park that celebrates the local pioneers, along with the recently completed museum.
The beautiful mountain streams are stocked with fresh water trout for the novice or dedicated fisherman, or you can take the family to the local trout farm.
There are bushwalks for those that like a stroll or the experienced bushwalker can take on the giant Mt. Feathertop. For more adventure, bring the mountain bike and explore or take the 4x4 up into the hills.
In the snow season you can drive up to Mt. Hotham and go do a range of activities including skiing, snow boarding or tobogganing.
Enjoy the cosy open fires at the local pubs in the cooler months whilst sampling their fare.
In the warmer months you can swim in the river or the dredge hole - complete with BBQ facilities.
